Therefore, only dismantle one torque arm at a time.</p><p>Mount a custom-manufactured crane arm at the front of the main beam. Tighten the crane according to</p><p>5001166 Installation and Service Data – General Bolt Torques. Hook either a small electrical crane or a</p><p>chain hoist to the arm.</p><p>Loosen and unscrew the six nuts and stay bolts holding the torque arms down against the beam.</p><p>Dismantle the locking ring at the end of the torque arm shaft.</p><p>Mount an M12 lifting eye in the torque arm in which the crane can be hooked.</p><p>Slacken the second torque arm on the same side of the gear to be able to pull off the torque arm.</p><p>(Loosen the nuts but do not dismantle them).</p><p>Slacken this torque arm.</p><p>SERVICE WORK INSTRUCTION SWI</p><p>Document number:</p><p>1001774</p><p>Rev.no.</p><p>3</p><p>Workplace:</p><p>Service</p><p>Title:</p><p>Upgrade of Torque Arm Bushings in NM 64C/1500 and NM</p><p>72C/1500</p><p>Sign. date:</p><p>2010-03-25</p><p>Page of</p><p>4 7</p><p>Vestas Wind Systems A/S · Alsvej 21 · 8940 Randers SV · Denmark · www.vestas.com</p><p>If the bushing is stuck on the torque arm shaft, use a puller to pull the bushing/torque arm off the torque</p><p>arm shaft.</p><p>The new torque arm is divided in two halves. The two halves have been machined as one unit.</p><p>Therefore, it is important that they are mounted together. Also clean the torque arm shaft and the</p><p>beam base of any fatty substances and dirt.</p><p>Mount a spacer ring on the torque arm shaft as illustrated in the picture below to the left. Place the lower</p><p>part of the new torque arm under the torque arm shaft. They are supplied in</p><p>pairs too. (Held together when delivered). One of</p><p>the halves has a white mark on the rubber. Prior to mounting the top part of the torque arm, press both halves</p><p>of the bushing against the spacer ring on the gear. Note that the angled side of the torque arm top part</p><p>must face the gear (same as on the lower part).</p><p>Press the bushings against the gear</p><p>Mount the six washers and nuts. Cross-tighten the nuts according to the Installation and Service Data</p><p>document no. 5001556 for 64C and 5001166 for 72C. When tightening the nuts, make sure that the</p><p>guide pins of the top part enter into the holes of the lower part. NOTE: When replacing the first torque</p><p>arm in one side, do not tighten up completely until the second torque arm on the same side has been</p><p>replaced. Otherwise it is impossible to pull off the second torque arm.</p><p>Finally mount the end part of the torque arm shaft.</p><p>Make sure that the guide pins enter into the holes.</p><p>NOTE: If the turbine has a Metso PLH 1100 gear, the end part to be mounted has no. 60112193.</p><p>Replace the remaining three torque arms following the same procedure.</p><p>After having replaced all torque arms, check the generator alignment. If necessary, align according to</p><p>WKI 1001217 Service Instruction Generator – Alignment.</p><p>After having finished the work, clean the turbine.</p>
