O QUE É?
Inteligência Artificial (IA)
 Podemos definir a inteligência, superficialmente,
como a capacidade que o ser humano tem de
raciocinar.
 Essa capacidade de raciocinar conduz cada indivíduo
em suas tomadas de decisões e na resolução de
problemas.
IA é FUTURISTA?
Geralmente, as pessoas pensam que a IA é algo que substitui os 
humanos em todas as tarefas, mas não é bem assim que acontece. 
Existem tecnologias que usam a IA para substituir o trabalho 
humano em uma tarefa específica, e não em tudo. Portanto, 
existem aplicações bem simples que envolvem o uso da IA e que 
nem percebemos.

MACHINE SINGULARITY
• One theory propounded by roboticist Hans Moravec
of Carnegie Mellon University suggests that robots
will become a new artificial species of beings, and
that it could come as quickly as the 2030s or 2040s.
• He suggests that AI entities will be successors to
human beings.
• Others take it several steps further and say that
man will be made extinct by machines that no
longer find us useful to their own existence, and
thereby systematically eradicate humans if they
consider us a threat to their future.
SINGULARIDADE DAS MÁQUINAS
O que acham que é: Característica do que é singular.
O que realmente é: Singularidade, do termo original em inglês Singularity (a abreviação mais usual de
Technological Singularity), é o termo usado para definir o marco histórico em que a máquina será mais
inteligente do que o homem. Segundo os defensores deste argumento, que não é consenso, a
Singularidade acontecerá em meados deste século — uma aposta é o ano de 2045.
Nas palavras Luciano Soares, professor de Engenharia da Computação do Insper, Singularidade é o
momento em que a evolução do poder computacional superará a inteligência humana atual. “A partir da
Singularidade, os computadores serão capazes de pensar mais rápido do que os humanos. Também
serão mais criativos e trarão soluções para problemas que hoje temos dificuldade de compreender.”
A Singularidade se refere menos à questão do desenvolvimento da inteligência artificial (embora isso
seja fundamental para o conceito) e mais ao ponto em que termina a nossa capacidade de prever o que
acontece depois no avanço tecnológico. A partir da Singularidade, entraremos em uma era em que os
avanços tecnológicos se moverão a um ritmo que nem sequer podemos sonhar.
Ray Kurzweil’s predictions
By 2019, almost everyone will be able to access wireless internet from almost anywhere
on Earth at all times. That’s because, as Kurzweil describes in his 2005 book The
Singularity Is Near (TSIN)
Within a few decades, virtual reality will be fully immersive, making physical workspaces
obsolete. Instead, we’ll all telecommute to work, and populations will become more
decentralized because we won’t need to live in any particular location for our jobs. This
will also somewhat alleviate the threat of terrorist attacks.
An asteroid will not kill us - Within a few decades, space technology will be able to fully
protect the Earth from asteroid collisions
More about Ray Kurzweil’s predictions
Don’t worry about diseases – Most diseases will go away by the 2020’s. We’ll be able to
reverse engineer the brain to fix neurological issues (ex. Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s,
strokes). Nanobots will not only exist by then, but be smart enough to combat diseases
better than our current medical technology.
By the late 2020s, it will be impossible to distinguish reality from virtual reality.
Humans become machines – By the early 2030s, technology will be able to copy human
brains and put them onto electronic mechanisms. That means no more flesh, blood, or
bones — just a scan of your brain on a machine — and will enable humans to take any
form, from a box to a bird. It will also mean that a “human” won’t die in any traditional
sense, and that it will be infinitely replicable.
Final Ray Kurzweil’s predictions
Earth will be made by computers – Sometime past 2045, our planet will be entirely made
up of computers. With the exception of some nature reserves for the vulgar plebeians
who want to live in a “natural state.”
The universe will be a supercomputer – By 2099, machines will be creating planet-sized
computers, and eventually we’ll make the entire universe into an enormous
supercomputer. Fingers crossed that a rogue humanoid doesn’t destroy the whole thing
with a virus!
According to Kurzweil, “the singularity” will occur in 2045
