Positioning the Scanner 1 Use the scanner control keyboard to move each scanner within 0.25" (6,35 mm) of the register mark print area. Selecting a Register Mark Pattern 1 Press 92 on the number keypad to select Menu 92. 2 Press the MENU key that corresponds to the web surface for which you want to program a register mark pattern. RESULT: A prompt will appear showing you the last selected mark pattern. 3 Is this mark pattern correct? • If yes, press Y. RESULT: The system exits Menu 92. Continue to step 5. • If no, press N. RESULT: Another mark pattern will be displayed. 4 Repeat step 3 until the desired mark pattern has been selected. 5 Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each surface you want to program. IMPORTANT This quick start provides general information. For complete safety rules and operating instructions, refer to the Register Guidance System IV Series X (RGS IV Series X) Operator Manual. Quick Start Placing the System in Makeready Auto Mode 7/97 • Register Guidance System IV Series X Page 2 of 3 Assigning Diamonds to Printing Units 1 Press 1 on the number keypad to select Menu 1. 2 Press the MENU key that corresponds to the web surface for which you want to program mark assignments. RESULT: The following prompt appears 1st Diamond is Which Unit? n 3 Is the unit number shown after the prompt correct? • If yes, press Y. • If no, enter the correct unit number on the number keypad. RESULT: The following prompt appears 2nd Diamond is Which Unit? n 4 Repeat step 3 until you have assigned all of the diamonds. RESULT: After all the diamonds have been assigned, the following prompt appears Which Unit is Locked? n 5 Does the unit number shown after the prompt correspond to the unit to be used as the locked unit? • If yes, press Y. • If no, enter the unit number that corresponds to the unit to be used as the locked unit. RESULT: The system exits Menu 1. 6 Repeat step 1 through step 5 for each surface that you want to program. NOTE Entering a 0 (zero) as the first diamond disables the scanner. To prevent scanner search, this should be done for any scanner on the system that will not be scanning register marks. Quick Start Placing the System in Makeready Auto Mode 7/97 • Register Guidance System IV Series X Page 3 of 3 Clearing Offset Tables 1 Press 3 on the number keypad to select Menu 3. 2 Press the MENU key corresponding to the surface for which you want to clear the offset tables. RESULT: The following prompt appears New Form on Upper/Lower Web n? 3 Do you want to clear the offset table? • If yes, press Y. RESULT: The RGS IV Series X will correct error to achieve theoretically perfect register when placed in auto mode. • If no, press N. RESULT: The system exits Menu 3. RESULT: Press the AUTO key for the surface you are programming. Displaying Register Information 1 Press 5 on the number keypad to select Menu 5. 2 Press any MENU key. 3 Press 0 (zero) on the number keypad to select Option 0. 4 Press the DISPLAY key corresponding to the surface of the web for which you want to display correction data. RESULT: Corrections being made to achieve theoretical perfect register will be displayed. Making Manual Moves 1 If any automatic corrections are being made, wait until they are done. The display will zero out. 2 Press the Unit key(s) for the unit and surface for which you want to make a manual move. 3 Using the number keypad, enter the distance you want the register motor to move the cylinder. 4 Select the Direction key that corresponds to the direction that you want the register motor to move the cylinder. RESULT: The system deselects the unit key(s) and zeros out the three-digit display. The register motor begins the move, and the motor LED(s) lights and remains lit until the move is completed. NOTE If the job is running and is already in register, select Menu 2 for the surface that you want to program and press Y. The system will maintain the current register.
