SIMPLE PAST
· The focus is on the TIME the action happened. -WHEN
· Storytelling about past events.
· All the actions in the simple past are finished.
· We have regular and irregular verbs.
· Examples:
YESTERDAY, I watched a movie.
My friend cooked potatoes LAST WEEK. -TIME MARKER
LAST NIGHT, I went (go) to the gym. 
She drank (drink) wine two weeks ago.
Regular verbs
Verbs ending with consonant + y:
· Take the "y" off and add -ied:
· Cry = cried
· Try = tried
· Study = studied
· Carry = carried
· Marry = married
· Apply = applied
	Verbs ending with vowel + y:
· Play = played
· Enjoy = enjoyed
I enjoyed the moment yesterday
She enjoyed the moment yesterday
· Stay = stayed
· Delay = delayed
· Employ = employed
· Public Employee = funcionário público
