<p>ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY</p><p>Try to guess the english-speaking country!</p><p>By Daniel Nunes Nº8 11ºC</p><p>?</p><p>Information about the country</p><p>Population: 5,123 milion people</p><p>Geography: it is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, comprising two main islands, the North Island and the South Island, as well as numerous smaller islands.</p><p>Traditional food of the country:</p><p>The freshest crayfish and seafood</p><p>A pavlova, a popular dessert in this country</p><p>Succulent and tender, roast lamb</p><p>Important traditions and festivals:</p><p>Gumboot Day – a fun-filled family festival that includes the town’s famed gumboot throwing contest.</p><p>The Haka: a Māori war dance to commemorate victory</p><p>Government system:</p><p>The Hangi: a traditional cooking method involving fire, stones and a pit.</p><p>The Hongi: the traditional Māori greeting of pressing noses and foreheads together.</p><p>Constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government.</p><p>The Beehive, Wellington, is the seat of government.</p><p>Languages spoken besides English:</p><p>English is the predominant and official language of this country, however, Māori is also spoken by the indigenous Māori people.</p><p>Common stereotypes:</p><p>- People often think this country is part of Australia, because of cultural ignorance, which may annoy the locals.</p><p>People tend to forget about this country, for example, many maps neglect to even include it.</p><p>Everything is so expensive, because it is so far away from the rest of the world.</p><p>Some people think that this country has more sheep than people, which is actually false.</p><p>English and Māori sign in Broadwood</p><p>Example of a map that does not include this country</p><p>Iconic Landmarks of this country:</p><p>Famous personalities:</p><p>Peter Jackson, from The Lord of the Rings</p><p>Cliff Curtis, from The Walking Dead and Avatar</p><p>Steven Adams, a famous basketball player</p><p>Did you guess the English-speaking country?</p><p>What do you think it is?
