FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS
FLOW RATE RANGE
Capable of processing signals from fluids that are
traveling between 0.04 and 30 ft/s (0.01 to 10 m/s) for both
forward and reverse flow in all flowtube sizes. Full scale
continuously adjustable between -30 and 30 ft/s (-10 to 10
m/s).
FLUID CONDUCTIVITY
Fluid must have conductivity of at least 5 microsiemens/
cm (5 micromhos/cm).

DISPLAY (BACKLIT LCD)
8732: 2 Lines by characters.

OUTPUT SIGNALS
4-20 mA, jumper-selectable as internally or externally
powered; 0 to 1000 ohm load.
Scalable frequency output, 0 to 1000 Hz; transistor switch
closure up to 5.75 W, externally powered, 5 to 24 Vdc.
HART Communications, digital flow signal, superimposed
on 4-20 mA signal, available for control system interface.
SOFTWARE LOCK
A jumper can be selected to prevent changes via keyboard
or hart communicator.
AUTO-DIAGNOSE FUNCTIONS
Parameters are checked and fail/erros are generated.
in events like:
"Electronic fail", "Open coil", "Empty tube", "Out of range"
among others.
AUXILIARY OUTPUT FUNCTION
Transistor switch closure up to 3 W, externally powered,
5 to 24 Vdc, to indicate either:
Reverse Flow - Activates switch closure output when
reverse flow is detected. The reverse flow rate is
displayed.
Zero Flow - Activates switch closure output when flow
goes to 0 ft/s.
POSITIVE ZERO RETURN
Forces the outputs of the transmitter to the zero flow rate
signal level. Activated by applying a contact closure at
terminals 9 and 10.
A Fisher-Rosemount Magnetic Flowmeter System
measures volumetric flow rate by detecting the
velocity of a conductive liquid that passes though a
magnetic field. The system consists of two major
assemblies: 570 TM Magnetic Flowmeter Flowtubes
combined with the Model 8712 or the Model 8732
Magnetic Flowmeter Transmitters.
The flowtube is installed in-line with process piping
- either vertically or horizontally.
Coils located on opposite sides of the flowtube
create the necessary magnetic field. A condutive
liquid moving trough the magnetic field generates a
voltage that is detected by two electrodes.
The transmitter drives the coils to generate the
magnetic field and electronically conditiions the
voltage detected by the electrodes. The transmitter
then produces analog and frequency output signals
proportional to the liquid velocity.
OUTPUT TESTING
Current Source: Transmitter may be commanded to
supply a specified current between 3.75 and 23.25 mA.
Frequency Source: Transmitter may be commanded to
supply a specified frequency between 1 and 1000 Hz.
LOW FLOW CUTOFF
Adjustable between 0.04 and 1 ft/s (0.01 and 0.3 m/s).
Below selected value, output is driven to the zero flow rate
signal level.
HUMIDITY LIMITS
8712: 0-100% RH at 120 ºF (49 ºC), decreases linearly to
10% RH at 130 ºF (54 ºC).
DAMPING
Adjustable between 0.2 and 256 seconds.
OVERRANGE CAPABILITY
Signal output continues to 110% of upper range value
setting, then remains constant. Out of range message
displayed on LOI and the HART Communicator.
