Claire-Marie Pradier and Jan Paul, editors 
The editors have more than 20 years of combined experience after graduation in 
the fields of catalysis, surface science, bioinorganic chemistry, and theoretical 
modelling. They have extensively studied basic reactions on model catalysts, 
particularly hydrogenation and dehydrogenat ion reactions and C r c h e m i s t r y . Their 
work involves long-term connections with leading commercial laboratories in 
France and in the U S , connections that have proved invaluable to maintain a high 
industrial relevance in their reserach. Both editors have spent considerable t ime as 
guest researchers in foreign laboratories away from their home turf. Their work 
and interest in carbon dioxide chemistry recently prompted the US Materials 
Research Society to invite them to organize a symposium on this topic in San 
Francisco.
