ENSINO E APRENDIZGEM DA LINGUA INGLESA
1 - INTRODUÇÃO
		1.
There were two moments in Brazil which changed the way people viewed the English language in 1930 and 1935. They were:

a-      Brazil became a wonderful place for sightseeing and radical sports.

a-      Brazil was viewed as a strategic point and as a strategic necessity with regard to a possible war in Europe.

a-      Brazil was viewed as a strong economical and educational force.

a-      Brazil offered both precious stones and wood.

a-      Brazil was viewed as a center for historical and biological studies.

		2.
There are some myths about a second or foreign language learning, and some of them are age-related. From the options bellow, choose the one that is considered false since there is no conclusive research to prove it.

Accent free speech is unattainable for adults, but possible for children.

Adults can draw on previous language resources for comparison.

You can be a successful language learner at any age.

Adults are more readily able to handle abstract rules and concepts.

Children are better language learners than adults.

Explicação:
A única alternativa que não possui evidência científica que a comprove é o mito de que Children are better language learners. O fato é que You can be a successful language learner at any age. A alternativa que pode levantar mais questionamentos é Accent free speech is unattainable for adults, but possible for children. Segundo Douglas (2000), Research on the acquisition of authentic control of the phonology of a foreign language supports the notion of a critical period. Most of the evidence indicates that persons beyond the age of puberty do not acquire what has come to be called authentic (native-speaker) pronunciation of the second language.

		3.
By 1966, there was an important spread of English language teaching all over Brazil. This was due to:

	a-      the franchising system

a-      the arrival of foreign teachers in the country

a-      Brazilian government incentives towards English learning

a-      the new theories about foreign languages learning

a-      the American movies presented in the country

		4.
We know that in 1808 there was a widespread interest in the English language in Brazil. That happened because England became a major--------------------------of Brazil in 1808.

	a-      trading partner

	a-      touristic partner

	a-      branch

	a-      language teaching center

	a-      friend

		5.
Mark the only option which is not a consequence of studying English asa foreign language in a globalized world:

the status of teaching and learning is being affected

learning English also means participating in the country culture

we have to recognize that people learn English for different reasons

the language is widespread around the world

english has the same prestige as French as foreign languages

Many scholars believe that the implementation of any reform movement heavily depends on teachers. Moreover, teachers are expected to play a crucial role in changing schools and classrooms. Paradoxically, however, they are also viewed as major obstacles to change due to their traditional beliefs. An individual¿s decisions throughout his/her life is strongly influenced by his/her beliefs. Similarly, beliefs are the best indicators of the decisions that individuals make throughout their lives. Teacher beliefs play a major role in teachers¿ decision making about curriculum and instructional tasks. In summary, educational researchers have advocated the need for closer examination and direct study of the relationship between teacher beliefs and educational practices.

	Read the text below:

"Reflective teaching means looking at what you do in the classroom, thinking about why you do it, and thinking about if it works - a process of self-observation and self-evaluation".
https://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/article/reflective-teaching-exploring-our-own-classroom-practice
Based on the information above, we can state that, in a reflective process, you start recognizing that you and your students:

Have different levels of importance: teachers are more important.

Are part of different processes: teachers reflect and students act.

Are key persons in the learning environment.

Should not work together because only teachers know what to do.

Must follow what pedagogical coordinators and directors plan.
	Respondido em 21/09/2021 11:42:37

Explicação:
Reflective teaching is therefore a means of professional development which begins in our classroom.
By collecting information about what goes on in our classroom, and by analysing and evaluating this information, we identify and explore our own practices and underlying beliefs. This may then lead to changes and improvements in our teaching.
This reflective processo involves both teachers and students.

	Read the following excerpt
"I cannot make an informed choice unless I am aware that one exists. Awareness requires that I give attention to some aspect of my behavior or the situation I find myself in. Once I give that aspect my attention, I must also view it with detachment, with objectivity, for only then will I become aware of alternative ways of behaving, or alternative ways of viewing the situation, and only then will I have a choice to make." (Larsen-Freeman, 1983)
According to Larsen-Freeman, teachers need the following in order to make informed choices about their work BUT:

	Knowledge needed to change

	The development of skills

Routine thinking guided by external authority

	A positive attitude towards change

	Heightened awareness
	Respondido em 21/09/2021 11:48:30

Explicação:
According to Larsen-Freeman (1983), teachers need heightened awareness, the development of skills, knowledge needed to change and a positive attitude towards change  in order to make informed choices about their work. Self-monitoring, self-awareness and self-observation are the cornerstones of all professional development. They are essential ingredients, even prerequisites, to practicing reflective teaching.

It allows students to develop the four language equally together with social skills to communicate.

It allows students to expand opportunities for learning new linguistic chunks.

It tends to feature more equal participation than face-to-face discussion.

It allows more planning time to produce lexically and syntactically complex sentences.

It provides increased opportunities to communicate in the target language outside the classroom.

Todas as alternativas apresentam alguns dos benefícios proporcionados pelo uso do computador nas discussões, no âmbito do ensino aprendizagem de língua estrangeira, em relação à comunicação face a face, menos a alternativa que contém a resposta 'It allows students to develop the four language equally together with social skills to communicate'. Isso deve-se ao fato de a comunicação mediada por computador enfatizar a modalidade escrita em detrimento da oral nas discussões, além de não dar vazão ao desenvolvimento das social skills
