It’s my turn now to choose the
places: let’s see... Humm...

Well, I’m hungry too.
Patrick, take Jessica to Madame Tussauds,

meet you both at the National Gallery at
four o’clock. How about that?
We can see
models of many famous
people. They look very

to go now.
That’s OK with me.
See you later!

PAIR WORK
You and your family are on holiday in Orlando. After you check in to the hotel, you
and your brother ask your parents for a snack. They order two hamburgers and fries
for you from room service. You want your hamburger well done and your brother
wants his burger with cheese and no salad. When they
bring the food, both hamburgers are rare and both
have cheese and salad.
You and your brother complain about the
burgers and want your parents to talk to
room service. Your father tells you both to
eat the hamburger as they are or you have

PROBLEM-SOLVING SITUATION
GROUP WORK
Sophia is at the shopping mall with her two children (ages 6 and 8). After an hour, the kids are
hungry. Sophia decides to take them to the food court for a snack. At the food court, the kids see
a fast-food restaurant, and they ask their mother for a Happy Meal. Sophia does not want to buy
her children soda and French fries and tries to convince them to eat something else.
What can she do in this situation? Think about some possibilities and discuss them with your group.
• Suggest some easy and healthy snacks she can take along from home for the kids.
• Suggest what to buy and where in the shopping mall.
• Suggest some healthy snacks she could find in a vending machine or at a convenience store.
The group’s conclusion:

Eating the right stuff and keeping fit
Most fast food is not healthy and can make you fat. If you eat at a fast food place, don’t order
only sandwiches and French fries. Include a salad or a bowl of frozen yogurt.
Watch how much soda you drink. It’s full of sugar and has no calcium or vitamins. How
about a glass of milk or fruit juice?
Your body needs many kinds of food to help you stay healthy and feel well. That’s why it’s a
good idea to have the recommended servings a day from each of the main food groups.
Look at the groups in the food guide pyramid.

In this lesson, we are going to talk about houses. All around the world, people live in
different types of homes. People usually build their houses with something that is easy to find
in their neighborhood, but the climate and their culture are also important. Sometimes people
use their creativity and build unusual houses. Do you know any house like the ones below?

READING
Read and listen. Then, do the following activity.
Houses around the world
All around the world, people live in different types of houses. Some houses are small, some
are large. They are also made of different materials. There are houses made of wood, others
are made of rock or mud. In very cold places, some houses are made of huge blocks of ice. They
are called igloos. Eskimos live in igloos. In big cities, many people live in apartment buildings. In
some hot countries people live in huts made of mud, straw and leaves. Some rich people live in
very large and expensive houses called mansions. Some native peoples still live in teepees made
of animal skin. In many countries, people live in houseboats on the water.
Some houses are very simple and plain. Some are painted in bright colors and are very fancy.
Some are extremely unusual and attract people’s attention. But, no matter how different houses are
and what they look like, people who live in them probably agree that there is no place like home.
Read the following statements and write true (T) or false (F) according to the text. Correct
the false ones.
a) Houses around the world are designed in a particular way. ( T )
b) Igloos are designed for places where the weather is very hot. ( F )
Igloos are designed for places where the weather is very cold.
c) We can infer that huts made of mud protect people from hot weather. ( T )
d) Teepees are made of rock and straw. ( F )
Teepees are made of animal skin.
e) Mansions are very simple houses. ( F )
Mansions are very large and expensive houses.
f) “There is no place like home” means our house is always the best place to be in. ( T )
Label the types of houses according to the text.

THERE IS/THERE ARE
Look at these sentences from Beto’s description of his house.
LANGUAGE WORK
There is a bathroom and a toilet downstairs.
There are three bedrooms on the ground floor.
There are bookshelves and a computer desk in the TV room too.
Deduce the rule and complete the spaces in the sentence below.
There is/there are mean haver in Portuguese. We use there is
before singular nouns and there are before plural nouns.
Don’t forget:
QUESTIONS
There is a TV room upstairs.
Is there a TV room upstairs? Yes, there is./No, there isn’t.
There are three bedrooms on the ground floor.
Are there three bedrooms on the ground floor? Yes, there are./No, there aren’t./
No, there is only one.
LANGUAGE USAGE
Read the text and fill in the gaps with there is, there are, there isn’t or there aren’t.
There are many things I like about my friend Ollie’s house. To begin with,
there are ten rooms. I love big houses! There are lots of trees and flowers
around it. Our city is very dry and hot, so the plants make it always fresh. Another thing I like
about the house is that it is far from the city center, so there isn’t much noise in the
neighborhood. Ollie does his homework from school in the garden, or in the living room when
the weather is not good. The only thing that I don’t like in the house is that there isn’t
a swimming pool in the backyard and there aren’t any benches under the trees.
There is a nice TV room but there isn’t a study room where he can study for
his tests more peacefully.

Read and listen. Do the following activities.
The solar system
The solar system is a fantastic thing. I can’t imagine how big it is. I don’t think
anyone can. Everything in the solar system goes around our Sun. Our solar system
is the Sun and the objects that travel around it, including the eight planets: Mercury,
Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. When I was a kid I learned
there were nine planets, but sometime ago, scientists decided Pluto wasn’t a planet.
The planets of the solar system are also a variety of sizes and are made up of
different substances. The largest planet in the solar system is Jupiter. More than 1,000
Earths could fill the size of Jupiter. The smallest planet is Mercury, which is also the
closest planet to the Sun. Earth and Venus are similar in size to each other.
The four inner planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are made of rock containing
many different minerals. The four outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune,
are made up of different gases. Jupiter is mainly helium, hydrogen, and water. The four
outer planets also have rings that encircle them. Saturn has the most rings.
I love looking at photos of the solar system. They get more beautiful as our
technology gets better. One day we’ll go on solar system tours.
Available at: <www.listenaminute.com/s/solar_system.html>. Accessed on: May 7th 2017. (Adapted.)

We have a house on the beach now. It is an old house, but it is
comfortable. It has a nice living room, but there is a problem: for my
taste, it is too colorful inside. Each wall has an unusual color. There is an
orange wall, a yellow wall and ø two purple walls. There are ø
paintings on the walls too. We have to paint the living room again urgently!
The other rooms are OK.
Look at the picture. Then write right (R) or wrong (W).
a) There are three cars in the picture. ( W )
b) There is a bus on the street. ( R )
c) There are five people on the sidewalks. ( R )
d) There is a taxi in the picture. ( W )
e) There is a cinema in the picture. ( R )
f) There are three children crossing the street. ( W )
What else can you see in the picture? Write five sentences.
There are three people crossing the street.
There is a car in front of the bus.
There are traffic lights on the corner.
There is a motorcycle on the street.
There is a snack bar on the corner.
Put in there is/there isn’t/is there?/there are/there aren’t/are there?
a) Look! There is a photograph of our neighbor in the newspaper!
b) Excuse me, is there a good restaurant near here?
c) There are five people in my family: my parents, two sisters and me.
d) We can’t take photographs. There isn’t a battery in the camera.
e) How many students are there in this classroom?
f) Brasília is a very modern town. There aren’t many old buildings there.
g) Where can we sit? There are only tables in this room. There aren't any chairs!

What does it mean to be green? “Green” is more than just a color. It also means taking
special steps to protect the environment − the water, the land, and the air we breathe. Why
green? Plants are green, and without them the Earth wouldn’t be such a lovely home for us
human beings.
GETTING STARTED

LISTENING
a) What is it about?
It’s about the water cycle.
b) How many processes make up this natural phenomenon?
Condensation, precipitation, percolation, collection, evaporation and transpiration.
LISTENING
Listen and complete the spaces with the words that are missing in the text.
Can you guess how old the water we drink every day is? The water on Earth has been around
about as long as the Earth has.
The Earth has a limited amount of water. That water keeps going around and around and
around and around in what we call the “water cycle”. This cycle consists of four main parts.
The Sun heats up the water from oceans , lakes and rivers and water changes
into water vapor by the process of evaporation .
Plants also lose water in the form of water vapor from their leaves into the air
by the process of transpiration .
As the water vapor rises up into the air, it starts cooling down and forms tiny water
droplets. These water droplets come together to form clouds . This process is called
condensation .
When the clouds start getting heavy and cannot hold the water droplets anymore, they fall
back to the earth in the form of rain, hail or snow. This process is called precipitation .
Some of the water that falls on the earth goes into the ground. This is called percolation .
This water is available to us in the form of groundwater .
The remaining water falls back into oceans, lakes , rivers and seas. This process
is called collection . Then, the Sun starts heating up this water once again. This
circulation of water is called water cycle .

Cool stuff about the Time Zones
As the Earth rotates on its axis, the Sun shines on only one part of the Earth at a time. While
the Sun shines where you live, it’s nighttime somewhere else. When you’re having your lunch in
Brazil, children in Paris are almost finishing their school day (the school day finishes at 5 p.m.
there.) and children in Moscow are eating dinner. Children in Sydney, Australia, are sleeping and
children in San Francisco, USA, are going to school.
Many countries follow daylight saving time, which is designed to allow people to enjoy more
waking hours during daylight. In most of the US, their clocks move forward one hour in the
spring. They fall back one hour in the fall.
As you move around the globe, you’ll eventually reach a place where the time is either one
day ahead or behind. Australia and a few other places are a day ahead of you. When it’s Monday
where you live, it’s Tuesday there.
Before you call a friend overseas, make sure you know what time it is there. Otherwise, you
might call your friend at 3:00 in the morning. Who wants to talk then?

Mark the correct alternative according to the text.
a) Night and day and time zones are a result of
( ) the movement of the Earth around the Sun.
( X ) the movement of the Earth on its axis.

b) Do we follow daylight saving time in Brazil?

Burlington is a small city in the southeast of Canada. Learn an interesting historical fact
about this Canadian city.
GETTING STARTED
PRE-READING
Look at the picture of Burlington (on the next page) and answer the following questions.
a) What can you see in it?
Buildings, trees, a large avenue (a promenade), a lake.
b) Does it look a nice city to you? Why?/Why not?
Possible answers: Yes, because I like small and quiet cities. / Yes, because it looks a quiet and beautiful city./
No, I don’t like small cities.
c) What places do you think you can go to in Burlington? Give some examples.
I think I can go to parks, museums, clubs, etc.
In 1784, the British gave Captain Joseph Thayendanegea (pronounced Thy-end-a-nega)
Brant , a Mohawk chief, a large area of land because he had fought on the side of the British in the
US War of Independence. Brant divided his land into lots and sold them. This was the beginning
of the city of Burlington. Two buildings near the site of Brant’s home, the Joseph Brant Museum
and the Joseph Brant Hospital, are just two memorials to his name.

BURLINGTON
Read and listen.
This is Burlington. It is a city in the south of
Ontario, Canada. Situated on the shores of Lake
Ontario, it is conveniently located between Toronto
and Niagara Falls. There are around 183,314
inhabitants. It’s not a very big city, but there are a
lot of places to visit and things to do. There is an art
center where we can see Canadian art and special
collections. There are two museums, including the
Joseph Brant Museum, and a public library. There
are good schools but there is not a university in
Burlington. There are two big shopping malls and
many stores in the city center. In the parks, there
are sports facilities where you can play tennis and
baseball. You can’t play golf in the parks, but there
are four golf courses in the Burlington area. There
are movie theaters, nightclubs and two bowling alleys in the city. In spring and summer, we can
see many beautiful trees and flowers at the Royal Botanic Gardens. We can also go for a walk
along Waterfront Boulevard.
The beautiful city of Burlington welcomes you whether you are visiting for pleasure, attending
a meeting, participating in a sports event or touring with your group.

The city of Dover
Dover is a large city in the southeast of England. There is a big port in the city and
it is an important link between Britain and Europe.
There are many interesting places to see in Dover. There are old
buildings and an old castle. They are from the medieval era. There are very
beautiful gardens with flowers and trees in the center of the city and there is a big commercial
center there too. There is a museum and a local theater. There are good
schools, but there isn’t a university. In the afternoon, you can have tea in a tea shop and at night you
can have dinner in a good restaurant. There are Italian, Indian, Chinese and English restaurants and
they aren’t
very expensive. And you can also visit the famous “White Cliffs of Dover”.

Hey, Beto,
I have good news from school. There is a new girl in my class. She is out of this world! Her name is Amanda. She
has blue eyes and short black hair. We are in the same group in the history class and that’s why I’m more interested
in the subject now. LOL. She is nearly 13 years old and she is tall. Her birthday is on October 22nd. I want to go out
with her, but I think it is too early to ask her out. What do you think?
Do you have a girlfriend? What does she look like? Is she pretty? How old is she? When is her birthday? I’ll be
online tonight. Let’s talk.

Paul

READING
Read and listen.
You probably have a favorite season. But do you know what causes the seasons? You already
know that the Earth spins on its axis every day, making a complete turn. When the Earth is facing
the Sun, it’s day. When the Earth is turned away from the Sun, it’s night for that part of the globe.
In addition to this daily turning, the Earth also travels around the Sun once every year. As the
Earth travels, its position in relation to the Sun changes. Sometimes, the Earth is tilting towards
the Sun, which causes summer. When the Earth is tilted away from the Sun, winter comes. The
funny thing is that when the northern part of the Earth moves away from the Sun, the southern
part of the Earth is experiencing summer. When it’s Christmas in America, it’s summer in Brazil.
Winter weather arrives in June in Australia, just as the Americans are pulling out your flip flops
and swimming suit.
Available at: <http://easyscienceforkids.com/all-about-seasons>. Accessed in: June, 2017.
Read the statements and write true (T) or false (F) according to the text. Correct the false
statements.
a) It takes the Earth about 24 hours to make a complete turn on its axis. ( T )

b) The changing seasons are caused by the movement of the Earth around the Sun. ( T )

c) When the Earth tilts towards the Sun it causes fall. ( F )
When the Earth tilts towards the Sun it causes summer.
d) Winter comes when the Earth tilts away from the Sun. ( T )

e) Winter starts in Australia on the sixth month of the year. ( T )

f) When it is winter in the Unites States it is spring in Brazil. ( F )
When it’s winter in the United States it is summer in Brazil.

Hey Paul,
Look where I am with my family! This is Fernando de Noronha, a cool place
in Brazil!
Fernando de Noronha is a group of islands in the northeast of the country.
It is a district of the state of Pernambuco.
We are staying in a small hotel for a week. We get up at seven o’clock and
have breakfast. We leave the hotel at about half past seven and we come
back only in the afternoon. The day on the island starts very early, with
a lesson about how to preserve the environment. This place is a national
marine park and it has a lot of fun activities for visitors.
We go on different tours every day: on buggy rides around the island, hiking
and on boat tours.
Boat tours are super! Dolphins jump out of water and play near the boat.
Then the boat stops at a calm place and we can go snorkeling to see the
terrific underwater life.
This is my favorite tour.
Hope you can come here one day.
Bye,
Beto.

Beto and his family learned, during their visit to Fernando de Noronha, that in recent
years the amount of garbage produced there has increased due to the growth in the
number of tourists in the archipelago. Their historical average is 61 thousand visitorsa
year, but last year they received 70 thousand tourists! What can Beto and his family do at

HOMEWORK
Read the text and do the following activity.
Jaguar spotting in the Pantanal, Brazil
The Pantanal is considered to be one of the best places in the world to see wild jaguars.
The wildlife in the region is fantastic, and there is a very good chance of spotting the elusive and impressive jaguar
during your visit there. While tracking the jaguars, you can see other interesting wildlife, such as monkeys, giant river
otters, and numerous bird species from well equipped boats. Specialists’ knowledge of the Pantanal ensures that visitors
see the best areas, so that they can fully appreciate the wild environment and have an excellent chance to watch the
jaguar in the wild.
Most visitors who spend five days or more in the area may see one of these marvelous creatures. But, if you are not
able to see them, you will see other equally breathtaking wildlife during your stay. Smaller cats such as the ocelot, as well
as other animals such as foxes, howler monkeys, and caiman are all a regular feature of the area. Tapirs, giant anteaters,
capybaras, and peccaries, all rare in most of their remaining habitats, are seen here.
Available at: <www.pantanaljaguarcamp.com.br>. Accessed on: June 14th, 2017. (Adapted.)
Read the text and decide if the following statements are true (T) or false (F) or not mentioned (NM). Correct the
false ones.
a) Jaguar spotting is one of the best tourist activities offered to visitors in the Pantanal. (NM)
b) Visitors to the Pantanal go tracking the jaguar on foot. ( F )
c) Tourists can watch the jaguars in captivity in the Pantanal. ( F )
d) Visitors may not see the jaguar during their stay in the Pantanal. ( T )
e) Tapirs, giant anteaters, capybaras, and peccaries are rare in the Pantanal. ( F )
f) A five-day trip to the Pantanal is very expensive. (NM)
Complete the text about Beto’s day in Fernando de Noronha. Use the verbs in parentheses in the correct form.
Beto starts (start) his day very early in
Fernando de Noronha. He gets up (get up)
at seven o’clock and has (have) breakfast
with his family in the hotel. Every day visitors
have (have) a different lesson on how
to preserve the environment. Beto loves
(love) these lessons! After the tours on the island,
Beto and his family go (go) back to
the hotel and rest (rest) for some time.
There isn’t much to do on the island at night, so
after dinner Beto goes (go) to the Projeto
Tamar Base, where he learns (learn) more
about marine life. He watches (watch) films
and attends (attend) to environmental
lectures. From January to July, visitors can see
turtles lay eggs at night or little baby turtles run
to the water for the first time. It’s a pity Beto
can’t see this wonderful show of nature this time.

READING
BASEBALL
Read and listen.
Baseball is the most popular summer game in the United States. It is also popular in Canada,
in many Central and South American countries and in Japan. It is played by two teams. There
are nine players in each team. The object of each team is to score more runs than the other. The
game has some complex rules, but basically, nine innings complete a game. During an inning
each team takes a turn at the bat and a
turn in the field. The object of the team
in the field is to stop the other team
from scoring. A pitcher throws the ball
from the center of the diamond, the
batter standing on home plate hits the
ball with the bat and runs to first base.
There are three bases. If the player
completes the circuit, his team scores
a run. Behind the batter on home plate
there is a catcher crouching down and
wearing equipment for protection.
The other seven players in the field
guard the bases and the areas behind
the bases. They are called infielders
and outfielders. One of the infielders
is also called shortstop.

Paul’s friend didn’t do well in his math test. His parents were very upset because he spent a
lot of time training for the school baseball competition and didn’t study enough. As a result,
they told him he would get grounded in the evening of the big game. He was desperate
trying to work out a solution to this problem. Discuss his problem with your partner and give
suggestions. What do you think he should do?

today, wasn’t it?
Gee, man!
A new

OK, but I
 can’t stay
for too long.
Oh, your

It’s a random
selection, but
most of the songs
are by Coldplay.
I can’t believe
it! Coldplay...
They are awful!
Ah-ah. I hope so.
Alan, come in for a
minute. I have something
to show you.
Yes, I think
they are great.
But they are not
your favorite, are
they?
These
songs
are on this
playlist! Let’s
listen to
them!
Well, they are
not bad, but I am not
their fan. I like some of
their songs: “Adventure
of a Lifetime” and
“Paradise”…
Yeah, but our
school team won
and we are in the
finals now!
Look what
I have here.
Wow! Our

Beto’s friend is in the sixth grade now, so she has a lot more homework. Her little sister is
really upset that she can’t play with her as much as she used to. What can she do to make
her little sister happy and still be able to do all her homework?
Possible answer: As soon as you get home, start your work and aim to finish it so that afterwards you can
play with your sister. After a while, she’ll probably come to understand that your schoolwork comes first and then it’s her
turn. It’s a good thing for her to learn. I used to put off homework until the last minute, and it just didn’t give me time for
anything else. Now I do it as soon as I get home and I have so much more free time! If I can do it, so can you!

PAIR WORK
Look at Paul’s school timetable. Take turns to ask and answer the questions below. Write
complete sentences.
In your school, you are used to working in groups and sharing information to do your work
and projects. But you have a classmate that doesn’t understand that it is inappropriate to
copy the work of other students when working independently. In addition, he/she keeps
cheating on the tests. What would you do if the cheater were your best friend?

Possible answers:
If the cheater were a good
friend of mine, I would talk to
him/her and ask why he/she
cheated, and tell him/her that
he/she should stop (because
he/she will not learn if he/she
keeps cheating, and he/she
might get caught). If he/she
were not my friend, I would
probably not bother telling
anyone about it.
I’ll do nothing, it’s not my
business, I don’t wish to
make enemies and rat people
out. Their mistake is in doing
it and the consequences will
come one way or another.
I would report it to the
teacher.
I would not report the
student because that may
result in his/her expulsion
and I don’t want to ruin a
person’s life.
I would feel very
uncomfortable, and try cover
my answers better.
Depending on how bad
the cheating was, I would
probably just not say
anything and then talk to
him/her about it after class
(then depending on what I
got out of it, maybe tell the
teacher, but probably not).
Look!

Africa is the second largest continent in the world. It is also second in the number of
people. Africa is a vast, beautiful land with dry, hot deserts in the north, and grasslands
and tropical jungles in the south. Anthropologists believe that the first human beings lived
in Africa 7 million years ago. These early people didn’t live in villages or cities. They were
nomadic, hunting animals and gathering plants and berries.

Mahasin is 9 years old. She is from Sudan. She is Sudanese. She and her family don’t live
in just one place. They are nomadic cattle herders. When the community migrates, they take
the huts apart and transport them on camels and oxen. Mahasin likes to help her mother and
sisters with the cooking and cleaning.
She and her sisters attend a special school for nomadic children. There are about
50 children at the school, but students change all the time because of constant migrations.
They learn the Arabic language, religion and geography. Their teacher always travels with
them. He is a member of the community. Mahasin and her friends play traditional desert
games in their free time.
Moving around is an adventure and Mahasin loves her way of life.
Vincent is 15 years old. He is from Rwanda. He is Rwandan. His mother and father are
dead, so he is responsible for his younger sister and brothers. They are very poor.
He grows vegetables (cabbage, tomatoes and sweet potatoes) and bananas on his
land to have food for his family every day. He gets up when it is light because he doesn’t
have a watch.
His sister, Donata, is 14 years old. She
cooks lunch while Vincent is at school. The
family has just one meal a day. Vincent eats
at school and the others eat at home. He has
carpentry lessons at a day center for orphans.
He wants to be a carpenter in the future to
make money and help his brothers and sister.

Saying goodbye is a lifelong process. Throughout our lives we say goodbye to people, things,
and routines. As the school year ends, for example, kids say farewell to teachers, friends and
a daily routine they are used to. They may have mixed feelings; they may be happy because
vacation starts and sad because they won’t see their friends for some time.
How do you feel when you say goodbye to a friend at the end of the school year?
Personal answer.

Paul: Hey, Beto! Got you online, at last! What’s the matter?
Beto: Sorry, Paul. Too busy with my final exams… The school year ends in
December and I have to study hard. I’m not so good in Math and
Portuguese, you know.
Paul: Oh, yeah? What about English? I bet it is your favorite subject. Your English is
excellent!
Beto: My English teacher says that too. She knows we practice a lot chatting on
the Internet.
Paul: Cool! But, let me tell you about my project on Africa. I enjoyed doing it a lot
and I got an A!
Beto: Is that right, man?
Paul: Yeah. Thanks for the hints on the African continent.
Beto: That’s OK.
Paul: Now I’m ready for my Christmas vacation.
Beto: Well, I hope I get an A or a B in the subjects I hate. I can’t wait to be in the
7th grade next year.
Paul: Don’t worry. I’m sure you will.
Beto: Hey, Paul. I’ll spend my vacation on my grandpa’s farm and we have a
problem – no Internet…
Paul: That means we won’t chat for some time, right?
Beto: Yeah. Pity, eh? So, have a good school break. It was nice meeting you on the
Web this year. Good luck.
Paul: Have a nice vacation and good luck to you too.
Listen and repeat.

PAIR WORK
Beto is still studying for his final exams and he is not good at Math. This subject requires a lot
of brain skills and training, so it is always a good exercise to practice your skills trying to solve
different types of puzzles. Good reading skills and attention are also important because they
help you understand clearly what is required from you.
Read the logic puzzles below and discuss them in pairs to find solutions.
1) Puzzle: Apples and Friends
You have a basket containing ten apples. You have ten friends, and each one desires
an apple. You give each of your friends one apple. Now all your friends have one apple
each, yet there is an apple remaining in the basket. How?
2) Puzzle: Crates of Fruit
You work at a fruit factory. There are 3 crates in front of you. One crate contains only
apples. One crate contains only oranges. The other crate contains both apples and
oranges. And each crate is labeled. One reads “apples”, one reads “oranges”, and
one reads “apples and oranges”. But the labeling machine has gone crazy and is now
labeling all boxes incorrectly. If you can only take out and look at just one of the pieces
of fruit from just one of the crates, how can you label ALL of the crates correctly?
You give an apple each to your first nine friends,
and a basket with an apple to your tenth friend.
Each friend has an apple, and one of them has it
in a basket.
(Alternative answer: one friend already had an
apple and put it in the basket.)
Take a piece of fruit from the “apples and oranges” crate. If it’s an apple then you know that is the “apples” crate
since ALL THE CRATES ARE LABELED INCORRECTLY. This means the crate marked “apples” must be “oranges”
and the crate marked “oranges” must be “apples and oranges” .

LÍNGUA
INGLESA
