1. The sentences below are from the text on page 51. Read them 
and write the rules about the Present Continuous tense.

Para formar o Present Continuous usamos:
• o verbo to be no presente (am, is, are) e um verbo no 
gerúndio (-ing). x
• o verbo to be mais um verbo no infi nitivo.
c. Rewrite the sentences in the negative and interrogative 
forms. Use your notebook to write the answers.
Na forma negativa, acrescentamos not após o verbo to be
(am not, is not, are not ou, na forma contraída, isn’t, aren’t).

Em perguntas, uma das formas do verbo to be vem antes do

do. Peça a eles que pensem em

Great Barrier Reef
 The Great Barrier Reef is a large tourist attraction [in Australia]. 
However, some of this tourism the reef. Boats 
the water with fuels and waste […]. People are taking pieces of the 
reef with them as souvenirs instead of just looking. People 
garbage and other wastes in the water making it unhealthy for 
animals to live. This the reef and the animals that live 
there as we are destroying and polluting their habitat.
